Bees Wax Candle Making for TV show
We were asked to set up a usable candle making set of equipment for a television series.
Firstly, we had to restore a very old candle mould and tallow pan. Removing rancid tallow remains (from both items), fixing dents and rust holes. Then we perfected the technique of pouring candles and supplied a run of beeswax candles for background display.
Also providing instructions to the stars so they could make candles on set.
This was a fun project requiring, research, prop and consumables sourcing as well as training for a new crew.

Leyland Tiger Plate
The Customer came to us with this Leyland Tiger Plate, broken in half.
We found out the reason for the aluminium plate being cracking in half was that there, was a rust expansion that happened behind the plate while it was still attached to the engine.
So we got to work on repairing the plate for the customer,
First we cleaned the aluminium plate, then we added a backing plate to add bulk so it could become a pattern to be cast. The edges were thickened to allow for the shrinkage in the casting process, then a release coating was added thinly to avoid loosing detail to the plate, so now the plate was ready to be cast. After the casting had been completed the Leyland Tiger plate was cleaned.
The client picked up the rough castings of the plate ready for polishing and painting, before putting it into service.
This was a small but satisfying job!
American Ball Nozzle Co. Sprinkler
The Customer of this American Ball Nozzle co. Sprinkler came to us asking for the sprinkler to be tidied up as it was going to be displayed in a museum's display case. The client gave us some simple instructions to follow "please leave the top of the Sprinkler and the original part of the hose, in original condition".
We got to work on the American Ball Nozzle Co. Sprinkler for the customer, First we removed the original hose, brass ball and bracket from the top of the sprinkler, then we sand blasted the body of the sprinkler to remove the old paint. After the sand blasting was completed the sprinkler was cleaned to remove any grit and residue, before repainting the sprinkler in original colours. Then the American Ball Nozzle Co. Sprinkler was reassembled.
When the Client picked up the Sprinkler they were pleased with the work that had been done, and the preservation of the original hose and top of the Sprinkler. It is now in a display building with other varieties of sprinklers.........we hope to help again in future.
This was a fast and enjoyable job.

Charity Event Car DecorationThe "Steam Team" for the Cancer council Rally wanted a smoking chimney and pressure gauge roof rack display.
We built this robust roof mount and it lasted from Melbourne to Cairns on rough roads, still working as it crossed the finish line. |
Repairs to Vintage CartOur electrical team rewired this vintage "Taylor Dunn Step-saver" and repaired its charging circuitry and speed controller. This little cart had melted all of its wiring and no diagrams existed to help figure it out. This was only an entry level restoration with no cosmetic work. But the cart now works reliably.
